K-TIG is a precision process and is best suited to corrosion resistant materials, exotic materials, and some carbon steels. Suitable materials include Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys, Super Alloys, Super Duplex, Duplex, Titanium and more.

Principle

K-TIG (Keyhole TIG) is a variant of GTAW, and delivers exceptional productivity across a wide range of applications.
K-TIG is ideally suited to longitudinal, circumferential and outside corner joints. It only requires a square butt joint presentation, with no bevelling required when welding within K-TIG’s normal thickness ranges. It welds in 1G and 2G welding positions but not intended for positional welds (5G/6G)
K-TIG does not require edge bevelling, and requires only a simple square butt joint. No root gap is required. K-TIG can also be used to weld into all standard edge preparations.

 

Full Penetration

K-TIG supports customers to weld at 8x the penetration of GTAW and typically 2x the penetration of Plasma Arc Welding (PAW).
K-TIG provides full penetration, single-pass keyhole welding in materials up to ½ inch | 12mm for most corrosion-resistant materials and even up to 5/8 inch | 16mm in some reactive metals. All without the need for special gases or exotic purging requirements and filler wire is greatly reduced or even eliminated.

 

Materials

K-TIG is a precision process and is best suited to corrosion resistant materials, exotic materials and some carbon steels.

K-TIG’s ideal thickness ranges are:

Titanium up to 5/8 inch (16mm) thickness
Austenitic Stainless Steel up to 1/2 inch (13mm) thickness
Duplex & Super Duplex up to 1/2 inch (13mm) thickness
Nickel alloys & super alloys up to 1/2 inch (13mm) thickness.
Thicker materials can be welded, call us to discuss.
