Kevin Davies

Kevin Davies

Chairman

Kevin’s journey started in the dynamic world of the gas and oil industry. He then ventured into the welding and positioning sector, where he honed his skills as a manager and built a remarkable sales team. Kevin’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Key Plant Automation. With a hands-on approach, he has guided the company from its inception, overseeing everything from day-to-day operations to pioneering new product lines and leading cutting-edge research and development efforts. Kevin’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in driving our growth and assembling a team of industry trailblazers.

Jon Grigg

Jon Grigg

Managing Director

Jon’s Key Plant journey began in 1994, fresh out of university. Back then, the company specialised in equipment rentals and used sales, with a touch of bespoke manufacturing. Over the years, Jon played a pivotal role in expanding our market reach from Liverpool to Northern Europe and eventually into Asia and North America. His journey at Key Plant has been an all-encompassing one, from managing finances and payrolls to hands-on shop floor activities and complex technical support. As a shareholder, Jon’s commitment to the company’s day-to-day operations is unwavering.

Steve Grindey

Steve Grindey

Director of Engineering and Service

Steve joined the Key Plant family in 2001 and has since become the driving force behind our engineering and service departments. His expertise spans engineering and product development, software development, on-site installations, technical support, and more. Steve’s work takes him around the globe, commissioning fully integrated systems and ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service. His journey began as a mechanical apprentice and evolved into running projects with industry giants like ABB, Marconi Marine, and Rolls Royce. Steve is truly an industry leader in Positioning and Automation Equipment.

Ross McCrorie

Ross McCrorie

Commercial Director

Ross is a relatively recent addition to Key Plant, joining in 2021. However, he brings with him an impressive 27 years of experience in the world of weld automation, engineering, sales, and service. Ross’s career started as an apprentice engineer at Mathieson Welding, and he later earned his ONC and HNC in electrical and electronic engineering. He has worked with top-tier companies such as Fronius and Red-D-Arc, where he held the position of Vice President for Europe/Middle East. Ross holds a degree in Business and Accounts, making him a formidable force in our commercial endeavors.

Michael Keith

Michael Keith

Director of Automation (North America)

Michael’s career started at his family’s shipyard in Florida, where he honed his welding and fabricator skills. He later became a welding supervisor and implemented lean manufacturing and ISO 9001 at Fisher Barton. In 2008, he joined Machine and Welding Supply as a Welding Specialist and then Airgas as an Automation Specialist. In 2019, Michael joined Key Plant as the Director of Automation for North America, overseeing the startup of our Houston location, distributor growth, customer consultations, engineering, integration, installations, sales, and service. His extensive certifications and experience make him a driving force in welding automation.

Craig Parkes

Craig Parkes

Special Projects Manager

Craig joined Key Plant in 2016 and quickly assumed responsibility for managing key accounts and technical projects. His track record includes successfully negotiating, installing, and project managing large engineering and welding projects across various sectors, with a particular focus on the defense and MOD sector. Craig’s journey began at Sandvik Stainless Steel, where he gained hands-on experience in welding MMA, MIG, and TIG applications. His career then led him to TPS Fronius, where he continued to expand his expertise in welding technologies. Before joining Key Plant, Craig worked for himself and also served as a Country Manager for Red D Arc.

Andy Parton

Andy Parton

Technical Operations Manager

Andy’s tenure at Key Plant started in 2005, and his role spans product sales, special automation projects, spares and customer support, product development, software development, contract review, international freight logistics, and U.L./CSA certification updates and inspections. His educational background includes studies in Chemical, Biochemical, and Process Engineering at the University of Bradford. With previous experience at Akzo Nobel and Bode Positioners, Andy is well-versed in export customs procedures, licenses/permits, trade finance, and contract review. He holds a Diploma in International Trade and Sales Contract Law from the Institute of Export.

Rob Dawson

Financial Controller

Rob joined Key Plant in 2020 to lead the company’s finance team, overseeing our growing operations, including the new North America subsidiary. With a background as a Certified Chartered Accountant, Rob brings a wealth of financial expertise. He previously managed a diverse portfolio of clients in private practice, gaining insights into various industries and business lifecycles. At Key Plant, Rob focuses his skills on optimising our financial functions, ensuring the company’s continued growth and success.

Jesper Hansen

Jesper Hansen

Global Technical Sales Manager (Renewables)

Jesper is our renewable energy guru, having joined Key Plant in 2022. He leads our efforts in the renewables and wind energy sector, drawing from four decades of experience in wind tower and monopile production. Jesper’s career began in 1992 at Rønde Svejseteknik as a service engineer, and he continued to build his expertise in welding methods. Over the years, he transitioned into technical sales roles, including a decade as Technical Sales Manager at Blaaholm. Jesper’s innovative thinking and extensive global travel have made him an invaluable asset in optimizing wind tower manufacturing processes.

Henrik Jepsen

Lead Design Engineer (Renewables)

Henrik joined Key Plant in November 2022 as the Lead Design Engineer for our renewables and wind energy projects. His journey began with hands-on work as a welder and sheet metal worker, gaining experience in various technical machinery across diverse industries. After completing his AP graduate degree in Production Technology in 2015, Henrik entered the world of machinery design, focusing on the wind industry. Today, he specialises in designing and developing equipment for wind tower and monopile production, working closely with Jesper Hansen for over eight years.

Peter Wery

Global Technical Product Manager (Pipe Segment)

Peter has been with Key Plant since 2016 and leads our Pipe Segment globally. His responsibilities cover pipe preparation, pipe cutting, pipe welding, product development, sales, rental, and service. Peter’s industry-leading experience spans over 25 years in engineering, welding, installation, and after-sales service in pipe preparation, automotive, and automation. His work has taken him around the world, contributing to projects in North America, Asia, and Europe. Peter specialises in tooling development, both standard and special purpose, for various materials and applications.

Tony Tedeschi

Tony Tedeschi

UK Sales Manager

Tony joined Key Plant in 2022, tasked with supporting and growing our standard weld automation, pipe fabrication equipment, and Cloos robotic welding offerings in the UK & Ireland markets. His career kicked off as a Sales Engineer with PCT Group Middle East in Dubai, focusing on welding consumables and mechanised welding equipment. Tony’s experience spans roles with Gullco International UK, WB Alloy Welding Products Ltd, and TAG Pipe Equipment Specialist (SFE Group), where he worked extensively in weld automation, special projects, and distributor setup across Europe.

Sayer Hendricks

Integration and Service Manager (North America)

Sayer’s journey to Key Plant began with humble beginnings, working in a family trucking and ranching business. He transitioned into professional diesel mechanics and later into millwright and rigging work. Sayer’s love for machinery and welding machinery repair expertise eventually led him to weld automation. With certifications in various areas, including diesel technology and electrical systems, Sayer’s extensive experience has made him a valuable addition to our team.

Nick Hill

Fabrication and Production Leader

Nick has been an integral part of Key Plant since 2011, overseeing all aspects of welding, fabrication, robot welding, weld inspection, plate preparation, cutting, and CNC machining. His journey began at JCB as a Welder Fabricator, where he set up and installed CLOOS Robots and became a trained programmer for robotic welding. Nick’s dedication led him to become a coded welder and, at Key Plant, he obtained a Specialist Diploma IWS in welding from TWI in 2018. Today, he leads our Welding, Fabrication, and Production teams, ensuring top-notch quality and efficiency.

Manufacturing Key Supply Chain Manager

Mark has been with Key Plant since 2011, managing general production and liaising with department team leaders to ensure timely product delivery. His journey began at British Coal as a mechanical apprentice, where he gained extensive experience in welding and fabrication. After founding his own sub-contract fabrication business, Mark transitioned to Key Plant as a mechanical engineer and eventually took on production management. Today, he specialises in steel production and raw material procurement, ensuring our supply chain runs smoothly.

Sharon Hughes

Office Manager, HR and HSE

Sharon has been a vital part of Key Plant since 2012, responsible for the day-to-day office operations. Her roles encompass administration, human resources, health & safety, and supply chain management of bearings, gearboxes, and mechanical power. Sharon’s technical background and global import/export experience, particularly in bearings and mechanical power transmission, make her an invaluable asset in running our business smoothly.

Matt Rushton

Matt Rushton

Marketing Lead

Since joining Key Plant in 2019, Matt has driven our marketing initiatives, coinciding with our expansion into North America with the opening of Key Plant USA in Houston, Texas. With over 15 years of experience in graphic, web design, and digital marketing, Matt holds certifications as a CIW Web Design Professional and a DMI Digital Marketing Professional. In his role, he manages various tasks such as website management, social media administration, SEO, content design, and lead generation strategies. Matt’s strategic insights and creativity contribute to shaping our brand identity and strengthening our digital presence.
