The Job
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to lead a skilled and already established electrical team within a growing engineering company.
The successful candidate will benefit from a planned and supportive handover period with our current Electrical Team Leader, who is preparing for retirement. This will provide a valuable opportunity to work alongside the existing team leader, gain a thorough understanding of the department and ongoing projects, and ensure a smooth and well-supported transition into the role.
As the Electrical Department Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the electrical department while remaining actively involved in the hands-on electrical assembly, wiring, testing, diagnostics, and fault-finding of industrial machinery and control systems.
You will lead and support a small team of electrical technicians, allocate workload, manage priorities, and ensure that all electrical systems, machinery, and control panels are built and tested to a high standard.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role rather than a purely supervisory position.
Our Ideal Candidate Will have experience with:
- Industrial electrical wiring and machine building.
- Control panel construction and wiring.
- Electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Drives, inverters, and control systems.
- Single and multi-axis machinery.
- Electrical diagnostics and fault-finding.
- Testing and commissioning electrical systems.
- Working collaboratively with mechanical and electrical engineers.
Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or supporting other technicians would be advantageous.

- Work with drives, inverters, and single and multi-axis control systems.

- Identify faulty components and systems and carry out appropriate repairs or rewiring.
- Ensure electrical work is completed to the required quality and safety standards.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to deliver bespoke solutions.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for electrical assembly and related issues.
- Support continuous improvement within the electrical department and workshop.
- Support the training and development of team members.
